Electricity Innovations

The modern electric utility started in the late 18th century. The world has been fascinated by the electricity since the ancestors witnessed lighting. In fact, rubbing amber generated electricity was discovered by the ancient Greeks. Electricity is part of nature and it is the most used form of energy. It is obtained from conversion of the primary sources such as oil, nuclear power, and coal. Some cities developed because they were near waterfalls that were used to generate electricity. Most of the equipment such as bulbs, refrigerators, and air conditioners were designed by electrical innovators. The notion of negative and positive charge was proposed by Benjamin Franklin in 1947.
